Lisa Gelobter stands out as a pioneering computer scientist in internet technologies. In 1991 at the age of 20, she obtained a computer science degree from Brown University in the U.S. She majored in artificial intelligence and machine learning, which served as a bedrock of her novel ideas in internet technologies.
Lisa pioneered the development of Shockwaves, a software framework for video games. She initiated the development of video content on the internet. Also, she is the brain behind the animation used today to create GIFs.
Aside from being a scientist, Lisa Gelobter is a technology executive and an entrepreneur. During President Barack Obama’s administration, she became a U.S. Department of Education member. She served as the Chief Digital Service Officer. She was in charge of the team that remodeled the College Scorecard for universities across America.
Lisa Gelobter is currently the Chief Executive Officer of tEQuitable. A start-up company she founded in 2016 to serve as an independent and classified platform. This start-up company addresses discrimination, bias, and harassment in the workplace. She raised over $2 million for her company. Gelobterand had joined the list of the 34 Black women ever to raise a venture capital of up to $1 million.

With Lisa Gelobter’s contribution to tech, she has received numerous accolades for her pioneering work. With her utmost help, Lisa was recognized by the MIT Technology Review as one of the top 35 innovators under the age of 35. Additionally, she was also awarded the prestigious Black Engineer of the Year Award in 2003. Furthermore, Lisa belong to of the 100 Most Creative People in Business by Fast Company in 2018. Lisa has also been a vocal advocate for diversity and inclusion in the tech industry. She is vocal about the need for greater representation of women and people of color in the field. With this, she has inspired many young people to pursue technology careers and paved the way for a more inclusive and equitable future in the industry.
